When Google came out with the Pixel 5 and 4a 5G previously this year, you might use the companys astrophotography mode with any one of their primary video cameras. After Google updated its electronic camera app in November, the Pixel neighborhood just recently discovered that you cant use the feature in mix with the Pixel 5s and 4a 5Gs ultra-wide cams.
Its not clear why Google decided to tweak the astrophotography feature, but as Gizmodo points out, one possible description is that it didnt produce fantastic shots with the wide-angle cameras on those phones. A support thread they found shows a number of sets of comparison images, and, in every case, the ones caught by the wide-angle cams on the Pixel 5 and 4a 5G function a sickly green tint and unsightly digital sound. It does not seem lots of Pixel owners are grieving the change, however in either case, weve reached out to Google to learn more. Well update this post when we hear back from the company..
